The Java St. Andrew Society is 91 years old this year and next year, I guess
we'll be 92 DUH!

As part of our celebrations we decided to run this competition in 2009 and it was such a success that we are running it
again.. We have been very lucky and have got some great support from our sponsors who shared the same values behind
our idea. That idea is simple. To create a totally free competition, for students to allow them to show their talent in
photography.
The competition is open to all students attending school in Jakarta and is a great opportunity for you to let your colleagues in
schools across Jakarta see your work and also to share in theirs. The topic headings are fairly simple and You can enter a
MAXIMUM of ONE photograph for EACH CATEGORY in your AGE GROUP. All that we ask is that you give each
photograph a title and write a short paragraph explaining what it is about or why it is special to you. This year we have added
a special adult's section good luck MUM!
- Please remember that only photographs submitted with a short description and a title can be considered by the judges for
prizes…. Sorry but that's the rules!
The plan is that each school who participate will appoint a photo competition representative PHOTOREP who will help publicise the
competition and collect photographs from students for packaging etc.
His or her details will be shown on POSTER NO 1 or 2 which will be put up at school in the next week or so.
So what about the competition itself!
- The idea is to have fun!
- Don't be put off if you don't have a mega-fancy mega-pricey camera with zillions of buttons and
gazillions of pixels!!!!.
The judges will be looking at your photograph and your story not your camera!!!!
Every day we see unusual things or everyday things, but from a funny angle. Look up, look down, look around,
try something different and you'll be suprised just how many great photographs are out there waiting for you to
grab them.
All around us are GREAT things, people, trees, mountains birds, flowers, your brother, your sister, your pet !.
There are also many clever things like bridges,old cars and rusty bikes and old houses and so many more that
we'd need two websites to make a list. Carry your camera, open your eyes, take your photograph and you'll be
amazed just how easy and how much fun it is!!!!
PRIZES
The photographs selected by the judges panel will be framed and exhibited at two or three public
exhibitions for the whole of Jakarta to see. They'll even be loaded onto a special web page so your
Granny, your children and your children's children , in some cases, can see them too!!! COOL KEREN

Other prizes for each group and category will also be announced on POSTER -2 But IT'S NOT
ABOUT THE PRIZES it's about you having fun and you sharing your talent.
